    The Morgantown route

From Morgantown, take I-68 east through Cooper's Rock and Bruceton Mills. Cross into Maryland and exit at Keysers Ridge (Exit 14). Pick up US-219 north into Pennsylvania, then continue through Meyersdale and Somerset to US-30 west into Jennerstown.

The route runs through the Cheat Mountain country and over the Eastern Continental Divide. Beautiful drive, no tolls, mostly four-lane.

    WVU and Monongalia County fans

Morgantown, Westover, Granville, Cheat Lake, and the rest of Monongalia County all share the same straightforward route up. The August 23 festival lands on a Sunday, which puts it on the weekend before fall classes at WVU. Make a road trip out of it with friends before the school year picks up.

    Stops along the way

Cooper's Rock State Forest is right off I-68 east of Morgantown and has one of the best overlook hikes in the region. Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County, Maryland is a short detour off I-68 and a great lunch stop. Once in Pennsylvania, Meyersdale is the natural rest stop before pushing north into Somerset County.
